Project description online

Notenbank Klanginstallation

— An investment in sound —

…is a collective project based on the foundations, vault and basement of the old Notenbank of Weimar realized by students of Bauhaus Universität Weimar.

The exhibition is a collection of sound artworks inspired by the bank’s history, its tasks and the contrast between past and actual functions of the building. In fact, the Notenbank has been used not only for money but also for documents and, especially after the war, to store what was most important: food, flour, rice and sugar. Furthermore, the building itself has changed during the years and at moment it is undergoing restructuring.

Each installation takes into consideration one or more of these aspects focusing on sounds, materials, space and architecture of the bank using these as a medium to give the audience a collection of hidden sounds, which will be turned into new voices, new experiences and new times.

!!!Opened Friday till Sunday from 2 pm — 6 pm!!!
