Project description online
Urban design is learning by doing. This semester we developed not one, but three design projects. The students dealt consecutively with three very different locations in Venice and Mestre: a section of city, an island and a peripheral location.
An examination of the city itself is a fundamental characteristic of urban design. With this in consideration, Venice has more material than we can handle: it’s a super-symbol and exceptional phenomenon of the European city; a battlefield of mass tourism and the residence of the last Venetians; a study object of urban space and ideal for pedestrians
