Project description online

For flood protection worldwide dams and dykes are made of local available soils. The requirements to flood protection are increasing due to the rising heavy rain falls. This can lead to a material transport in the earthwork and reduce the capacity to withstand stresses and the reliability of the flood protection.
To assess the stability of the soil an analysis of the soil assembly with experiments, computed tomography and numerical simulations is important.
With this insight an essential contribution for the assessment of the reliability of dykes and dams can be achieved.
