Project description online

MEDUSA III (or the universal guilt)' is the third performance in Denise Blickhans performance cycle 'MEDUSA'. 'MEDUSA III' is a live performance of thirty minutes. She stages via her body and divers materials visually strong images recalling media icons of pop history and christian iconography. Centerpiece of the performance is the experimental work with her voice. Throughout the performance a looper transforms her singing and speaking in frequency and rhythm which become partially integrated into pop songs.
Thematically, Denise Blickhan develops generally understandable depictions coming from her own personal experience in the field of powerlessness, questioning the responsibility and voluntariness of being a victim and his/her self-perception.
With her performance Denise Blickhan creates an experience of highly ambivalent emotions which do not become understandable on a narrativ level but throughout the perception of symbolical intimacies.
