Immersive 3D telepresence systems allow users to meet in a virtual world from different locations and to see each other as realistic three-dimensional user representations. During the course of a Bachelor thesis, the audio-visual immersion of such systems was greatly improved by the implementation of a spatial audio rendering layer that employs head-related transfer functions. Visitors of the Virtual Reality Lab can test a modern immersive telepresence system and join a meeting inside a virtual scenery.
