The Faculty of Art and Design at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar invites applications for the following position at the Chair of Interface Design, starting on 1 September 2024:
Artistic Associate (m/f/d) Tangible Interfaces and Printed Electronics
to be filled. This is a part-time position with a 50 % workload, equating to a weekly commitment of 20 hours. The role aims to foster further professional development. The initial appointment is until 31.08.2027. An extension is possible in accordance with the applicable regulations of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (WissZeitVG).
Responsibilities:
- Independently prepare and deliver courses for both Bachelor's and Master's programs
- Oversee operations in the Printed Electronics Laboratory under the professorship
- Support in the supervision of student projects and theses
- Assist in organizing and executing exhibitions and other cultural events
- Help in securing external funding through grant applications and research projects
- Participate in self-administration tasks within Bauhaus-Universität Weimar
- Pursue further professional development through self-motivated artistic or design projects
- The pursuit of a PhD. is desired and strongly encouraged
Qualifications:
- Postsecondary degree in the field of media arts or a related field
- Proficiency in both analog and digital electronics, such as familiarity with printed or conventional components, sensors, actuators, microcontrollers, circuit design, and PCB layout.
- Expertise in programming languages and tools such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, KiCad, C/C++, and JavaScript is desired
- Practical experience in designing and conceptualizing multimedia interfaces and interactive installations.
- Strong organizational skills, particularly in coordinating workshops and exhibitions
- Proficiency in the German language
- Professional experience, pedagogical aptitude, and the ability to work independently are valued attributes
- Regular presence on the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar campus is required

Remuneration is based on the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Public Service of the Federal States (TV-L) in accordance with personal requirements up to pay group 13 TV-L.
