PRESENTATION OPENS SAT., JULY 16. AB 10 A.M.
PERFORMANCE SAT., JULY 16., 2 P.M. AND 7 P.M.
The fulldome theatre "Ich liebe Dich!" is based on writings by visionary poet Paul Scheerbart (1863-1915). Two travelers in a luxury train from Berlin to Nowaja Semlja – Scheerbart and his antagonistic companion Dr. Egon Müller –, engage in unconventional discussions. Scheerbart wants to convince Müller of the benefits of loving the supreme Weltgeist more than anything or anybody else. Müller remains unimpressed. The dialogues are acted out on the stage “in real”, the mind boggling Scheerbart visions - i.e. wormspirits spiring to become gods in a great race -, are illustrated as 360-degree fulldome episodes, immersing the audience in vast and virtual realities with a peculiar Scheerbartian flavor.
The interplay of train ride (theatre), and cosmic episodes (fulldome) mirrors the original novel. Written in 1897, but conceptually way ahead of its time, it is a perfect springboard to explore the genre of fulldome theatre with 360-degree visuals and spatial sound design.
"Ich liebe Dich!" was produced and staged by students of Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and independent artists under the direction of Immersive Media Prof. Micky Remann. Dialogues are mostly in German. Bauhaus fulldome theatre experiments have a predecessor in “Kometentanz“ www.auerworld.com/kometentanz/.
The "Ich liebe Dich!" premiere on May 25th opened the 10. Jena FullDome Festival.
