Project description online

My poster series is a result of my bachelor thesis called "Japanese and the Bauhaus". In addition to the posters, the project includes an extensive research, a Japanese Signature stamp, a Bauhaus stamp and the imprint matrix. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Bauhaus, I have dealt with the classic Bauhaus (1919-1933) and the influences on Japanese students. Each poster represents the profile of a person and shows their main influences at Bauhaus. Interesting is the fact that two of these Japanese artists never visited Germany. Nevertheless, they were so impressed from what they heard and read about the Bauhaus that they opened their own schools in Japan.

To combine the classic with the contemporary Bauhaus, I used both, old and modern techniques. Therefore I printed the posters in digitial print, with a “Risograph”, and then embossed and stamped them.

Language: German, partly Japanese (with translation)
