Assistance for Employees

Information for Applicants

People with disabilities or at risk of a disability receive support to encourage their autonomous and equal participation in social life. Book IX of the German Social Code (SGB IX) forms the basis for this. The legislation defines a person as having a severe disability if they have a degree of disability of at least 50% and their main place of residence is within the scope of this code.

Persons with a degree of disability of less than 50% but more than 30% are treated the same as such persons if the other requirements are met. This has been determined by the Federal Employment Agency (Agentur für Arbeit). A special regulation applies for adolescents or young adults during their vocational training. Here, equivalence is granted regardless of the degree of disability, provided that proof is provided by the Federal Employment Agency.

Information for Employees

The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is committed to designing its workplaces for employees with a severe disability in a manner appropriate to their capabilities. This may involve providing suitable furniture or highly specialised technical aids. The Representative for Individuals with Disabilities can gladly provide information on further support measures, such as parking facilities close to the workplace, the granting of additional days of recreational leave or even special protection against dismissal.

In addition to individual workplace support for employees with severe disabilities, the representative for employees with severe disabilities is involved in the application and appointment procedures and is dedicated to upholding the university’s accessibility concerns.
