One Life
In the work “One Life”, I deal with lifetime, it’s archiving and measurement in an artistic way. The central topic is the question of how to represent life – or rather the lifespan – in a general way. There are different philosophical definitions for life depending on the viewpoint. In the religious context, life is defined as a cycle, which, for example, is expressed in the liturgical phrase: “Ashes to ashes, dust to dust”. In the cosmological context, life is considered a minuscule thing. Birth and decay on the cosmological scale are insubstantial. Life is in flux, forever moving, constantly changing direction even as it flows towards the future.
My mother died on her 65th birthday. This One life was my starting point. From it, I developed appropriate multi-media forms of archiving and measurement, which are depicted in the three dimensional space through time transformation.
